About the event

This group is a space designed to support individuals & families grappling with complex and often unacknowledged forms of loss. Whether you are experiencing a loss of identity, grappling with hidden grief, or navigating the challenges of disenfranchised grief, you are not alone. Our group provides a safe and validating environment where participants can share their experiences, find solace, and explore pathways for healing.

Ambiguous Loss: Ambiguous loss occurs when there is a loss without a clear understanding of what has been lost. This might manifest as a change in self-identity, where you feel that you are no longer the person you once were. Our group offers a space to express these feelings of identity loss and to connect with others who are experiencing similar transformations.

Disenfranchised Grief: Disenfranchised grief refers to losses that are not openly acknowledged or supported by societal norms. This can include a wide range of experiences such as the death of a beloved pet, perinatal losses, loss of environment, elective abortions, loss of physical functioning as one did in the past, the transformation of personality due to dementia, or the loss of a job/and or community that was integral to one’s identity. Such grief is often minimized or misunderstood, making it harder for individuals to process their feelings and find appropriate support.
